Discover, explore and savour the best of Sussex

A summer recipe, harbour walks, stunning sculpture & things to do in Chichester

Grab a cool beer, and head for the shade with this week’s newsletter!

How are you enjoying the heat? Sussex seems to be divided into two types of people, those that love the hot weather and those that don’t.  I love it but it definitely makes life more challenging.

In an attempt to keep cool, I headed down to Pagham Harbour earlier this week – stunningly beautiful with a choice of walks and a gentle sea breeze the day I was there. I also carried on my explorations of the Chichester area and have some more great suggestions of things to do in the area.

With food (and drink) very much on my mind, I also tried some Pick Your Own at the weekend. I haven’t done this since I was a child but what an amazing way to keep your food miles down and support local. Our mouthwatering Sussex Gooseberry Fool is the result of my efforts (and very easy to make).

Finally, I headed to East Grinstead and Standen House for a sculpture exhibition and trail. On a boiling hot day, the grounds and sculptures looked amazing and there were lots of shady corners and deck chairs to help you keep cool.

Don’t forget, there are lots more Sussex soundbites in the latest edition of our Sussex Exclusive magazine, and if you haven’t already (and even if you have) please take a look and share with friends.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine.
