Discover, explore and savour the best of Sussex

Sussex beer festival, comedy and grand houses

Welcome to this week’s newsletter, which I hope fills you with as much excitement as it did me.

I know that I’m prone to getting over-excited. And this week’s newsletter had me very excited indeed. Many of you may already know Uppark House and Gardens but my visit in July was my first, and I loved it. It’s full of opulence, extravagance, and intrigue and I felt just a tiny bit like Lady Grantham as I explored some of the sumptuous rooms. And I was the only one there!

But then having headed down to the coast at Newhaven, I was even more excited by the new Sussex Boat Trips who are now offering you the chance to get out on the water and visit the offshore wind farm (amongst other places) … what an amazing and unique Sussex experience that is.

And it’s so great to see life slowly returning to normal and people enjoying the chance to get out and do things again, which is why I was equally excited by the idea of a Sussex beer festival by the seaside in Eastbourne and the chance to enjoy some slapstick Oscar Wilde in the stunning grounds of Nymans near Haywards Heath. I visited Nymans recently and it’s so atmospheric.

So while the weather may not be that special and the summer may feel like it’s slipping away, there is still plenty to see and do here in Sussex and I hope some of these ideas excite you too. That’s it for now, have a great weekend.
