Sparkling wine to Stunning trails! While I’ve been out on the trails again this week, Lisa Brace has been eating and drinking her way around the county. Well somebody has to! This week she caught up with Art Tukker, owner of Tinwood Estate vineyard in Chichester with news of their tastings and tours (and you can stay the night too) and she also headed over to Slaugham to talk to Michelin star chef Matt Gillan about the reopening of his Heritage restaurant and his mouthwatering Parlour boxes. Always a big believer in keeping a sense of balance, while Lisa’s been sampling the best of our Sussex produce, I’ve been burning the calories with a stunning 10 km trail (which is not far from Slaugham if the Heritage calls your name) and a slightly more gentle stroll around Winchelsea. For bluebell hunters (and they really are at their best at the moment), the trail hits the spot and it might just happen to take you through a vineyard to boot. You can’t say we don’t think of everything! On my travels this week, I’ve met more fascinating Sussex folk including a lady who was cycling from Eastbourne to Winchester along the South Downs Way on the smallest bicycle I’ve ever seen, wild camping along the way. She told me the tale of a 92-year-old who she’d met walking the same path. All of which confirms my belief that us Sussex folk are spirited, courageous, interesting, and maybe, sometimes, just a little bit odd. But in a good way. There’s lots more news on the website, so do take a look. That’s it for now, have a great weekend folks. Lucy Sussex Exclusive |
