Discover, explore and savour the best of Sussex

Sussex history, folklore, sculpture and gin!

Buckle up for this week’s tour of Sussex delights including a healthy dose of Sussex history & folklore, gin and culture!

A little bit of rain doesn’t stop Sussex folk and it’s been a whirlwind of activity in the county this week. On Saturday, it was inspirational to wave off the participants in the Race to the King 53 mile trail run from Goodwood to Winchester and it was great to see mud didn’t dampen the spirits of festival-goers on Ashdown Forest.

In the name of research, I drank gin for breakfast on Tuesday, enjoyed discovering sculptures at Leonardslee, and loved spending time at historic Bateman’s near Burwash.

One of the great things about Sussex is its rich history, and this week we’ve got the first in our Tales of Old Sussex – all about those short but quirky stories of life as it was in Sussex, which risk being forgotten.

In other news, do check out the website to find out more about the amazing vicar from Billingshurst who is changing lives in Uganda and if you’re struggling with type 2 diabetes, we’ve got some great advice on how to manage your health.

That’s it for now, I’m off to try on my wetsuit in advance of swimming the River Arun tomorrow. The things I do in the name of research! Have a great weekend.
