Discover, explore and savour the best of Sussex

Sussex snowdrops, spring celebrations, surprising walks & stunning Mayfield

Welcome to this week’s newsletter, which has a spring in its step and a gin in its sights!

I am absolutely delighted that Geoff Stonebanks from the National Garden Scheme is going to be sharing news about gardens to visit in Sussex this year, and he’s kicked things off with six wonderful places to find Sussex snowdrops this spring. Geoff is also the powerhouse behind Driftwood Garden in Seaford, well worth a visit when it opens.  As I type, it’s grey outside but despite that, spring is definitely in the air. I live in an almost permanent state of over excitement but at this time of year, that excitement crescendos. Spotting those first green shoots of spring, the lighter evenings, the birdsong, it all fills me with a great sense of optimism and there’s certainly a large dash of spring in this week’s newsletter.

This week, I’ve been exploring the stunning village of Mayfield which is bursting with history and legends, as well as with fine wines and gin! I’ve also been scratching the surface of a walk near Horsham – and it’s amazing what you find when you look closely!

Finally, the team at Visit Eastbourne has got a couple of lovely events planned for this month which include a spring festival and lantern display.

That’s it for now, I hope there’s something in all that which tickles your fancy. Have a great weekend!
