As we hurtle towards Easter, the county is very much waking up from its winter slumber. White clouds of Blackthorn blossom are lining the footpaths and roads – a definite sign of good things to come.
To get the spring ball rolling, on the 5th April, Preston Manor (on the outskirts of Brighton) is re-opening after 5 years. They have reinvented the experience there and I caught up with head guide, Dan Cox, to find out more.
On the same day (5th April), the first of the three Sussex tulip festivals opens its gates, namely at Tulleys Farm. The three tulip festivals are nicely spread across the county and I for one am going to visit all three.
As things burst into bloom, Geoff Stonebanks has nine NGS gardens open in April – and they all look inspirational! What a great reason to get outside.
And finally, there is a little corner of Horsham that is delightfully secluded and forgotten. Denne Road Cemetery has a touch of magic about it and is the perfect place to go for a short stroll and a moment of quiet reflection.
That’s it for now, have a good one.
