Grand foodie experiences, Medieval ruins & more

It’s been a soggy week in my corner of Sussex but the signs of spring are heartening and it’s wonderful to see the first daffodils.

This week, I’ve got a real smorgasbord of Sussex treats for you from right across the county. I’ve been over to The Grand in Eastbourne … it’s such a sumptuous hotel and they have a new head chef in their Mirabelle restaurant who champions local produce. I also stumbled into the new tea house in Crowborough and yes, lots of local produce there too, and a great place to refuel after a walk on the forest.

Back west, as you know, I’ve been walking the Serpent Trail and one of my fellow walkers runs walks in the Western Weald. I’ll admit it’s an area I had never heard of, but it is a very distinct part of the South Downs National Park. She explains more!

While you’re in that part of the world, why not visit the ruins at Boxgrove Priory? They’re free and they’re very close to Tinwood and Halnaker windmill which makes a nice day of it.

And last but not least, I am delighted to share the latest edition of our Sussex Exclusive magazine which is once more packed to the rafters with lovely Sussex stuff.

That’s it for now. Have a great weekend.
