At last, we’re enjoying a bit of an Indian summer and as a result, last weekend was positively bustling in Sussex. As you know, I am all for squeezing every last drop out of the season, so with this in mind, here are this week’s suggestions.
Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is worth a visit at any time of the year whether you want to walk, run, cycle or just sit in quiet contemplation. There is lots to see and do and a couple of places to eat nearby.
Back in West Sussex, I’ve been exploring the Manhood Peninsula – and that took me to Church Norton. For a tiny corner of Sussex, it packs a lot of history into its square footage.
Meanwhile, over the summer, I was lucky enough to be treated to lunch at The George at Burpham near Arundel and I was delighted by a menu full of local produce. It was part of my visit to an interesting little cottage nearby!
Unbelievably, the NGS 2024 season is reaching its close but Geoff Stonebanks has the last few gardens open to visits and news of an interesting lecture.
Finally, and for those that don’t know, the Bubbles and Botanicals Fair is back on the 2nd November. Lots of fabulous local producers will be there and it’s a chance to meet them and try before you buy. You can get your tickets here: Bubbles and Botanicals.
That’s it for now. Take care.
