Discover, explore and savour the best of Sussex

A lighthouse adventure, NGS gardens, things to do in May and a great place to stay

Have you noticed that just before they fade, bluebells have their own swansong moment when they take on their deepest richest colour? In my corner of Sussex, we’re right on the cusp of this moment, so if you can, head to your nearest woods in the next few days.

In other news, and as we move into May, there’s lots going on and so, I’ve got some things to do this month as well as some NGS gardens to view. Having visited the iconic Coastguard Cottages as part of the NGS lately, I felt it was a real privilege to be let into someone’s home and private garden.

Talking of iconic, I finally got round to walking along the shore at Beachy Head to the lighthouse. It was quite an adventure and not one for the faint hearted. The cliffs are a bit intimidating when you’re at their feet with only the waves for comfort! And this month, I’ve also been back down to Tottington Manor to check out its potential for a Sussex mini break.

Finally, it’s that time of the month when our regular health expert shares advice, and this week she takes a look at living with fibromyalgia.

That’s it for now. Tomorrow I am off in search of some big balls … 13 to be more precise. News of that next week. Take care.
