This week, I’m riding high after my first Belloc walk from Robertsbridge to Old Heathfield, which was an unmitigated success and a fabulous day out. Massive thanks to Samantha Norgate, Claire Nash (both of Claire Nash Solicitors) and Annick King for joining me and making it such a success. I’m still digesting everything we talked about and the incredible landscape we walked through.
But, full disclosure, straight on the back of that, I popped off to the Cognac region of France to do some research for a travel feature coming up in our next Sussex Exclusive magazine. It’s been quite the week: such an interesting region and so much to share! And yes, of course I found a connection to Sussex in the form of Simon de Monfort!
Having arrived back at my desk late last night, full of history, Cognac and ideas, the good news is that I’ve got some fantastic Sussex inspiration for you this weekend.
There’s the perfect day out in the High Weald, with no walking required! There’s also an absolutely gorgeous walk from Bexhill to Battle (walking is required for this one), another corker that I’ve done recently. Then there’s a new hobby for those of you who haven’t yet indulged in a spot of trig bagging yet (why on earth not? It’s so much fun!).
And finally, as one thing I noticed on last weekend’s walk was an abundance of fallen chestnuts, now seems a great time to reshare Sarah Thompson’s selection of fabulous chestnut recipes which bring you all the notes of the season.
That’s it for now. I’m already planning the next Belloc walk, which is coming up soon, but I might be putting my feet up this weekend after quite a full-on seven days.
Have a great one, and see you out and about!
