A smugglers’ village, a grand house, some beautiful sculpture and a twisting trail

June already and there is so much going on in Sussex at the moment, on top of so much to explore … my fingers can’t type fast enough!

This week, I’ve been back on the Serpent Trail. This is a walk that has been a real journey of discovery – in particular of a part of Sussex I didn’t know well. If you get a chance to walk even some of it, I can’t recommend it enough.

I also recently revisited Sedgwick Park House near Horsham as part of the NGS. It’s a beautiful and important house with stunning gardens, but it’s now under offer, so if you get a chance to visit again this summer, grab it, because it could be the last time.

I think you know I have a bit of a weakness for sculpture, so this week I went back to Philip Jackson’s exhibition in Cocking. It is absolutely fabulous. I was also lucky enough to go to his exhibition at Chichester Cathedral as part of the Festival of Flowers. The Festival ends tomorrow (8th June) and again, it’s absolutely fabulous, so if you’re in the Chichester area and can get a ticket…

Last but by no means least, Rottingdean is our town of the month. It’s one of my (many) favourite places because it’s such a great combination of seaside town, country village, and history. I had a jolly good mooch around there last week.

That’s it for now. Have a great weekend.

Take care.
