Discover, explore and savour the best of Sussex

An old railway, an older house, a coastal vibe & a wild garlic recipe

Well, Easter whizzed past in a flash and April is living up to its reputation for sunshine and showers (leaning towards the showers). But spring is winning at last in Sussex … honest!

If you’ve been out and about in the woods in Sussex lately, you may have noticed the heavy scent of wild garlic, and this week, Becci Coombes has a super easy and very tasty recipe you can make using this abundant local ingredient. And while Becci has been busy in the kitchen, West Sussex walk leader Malinka van der Gaauw has been rediscovering the old Rother Valley Railway line … there are interesting plans afoot for its future.

Meanwhile, I have been out and about on my travels too, and at long last managed a visit to the Priest House in West Hoathly – what a treasure trove that is. And if you follow us on social media, you’ll also know that I’ve also been exploring our town of the month, St Leonards on Sea. Gritty in places, but bohemian and fun with lots to see.

That’s it for now.  Take care.
