Ardingly College, West Sussex

Ardingly College is a co-ed day and boarding school near Haywards Heath in West Sussex. It has both a senior school and a prep school and at its last Ofsted Inspection in 2018, it was awarded the top inspection rating of excellent. The school’s aim is for pupils to achieve academic excellence. The curriculum is both national and international, with the IB Diploma offered in addition to GCSEs, A Levels and BTEC courses. Ardingly Collge is one of the top 10 IB schools in the country with 59% of pupils getting A*-A at A level.

The school has over 1000 students – boarding, day, girls and boys of 25 nationalities. Pastoral support is important at Ardingly and every pupil has the support of a Housemaster or Housemistress, as well as a pastoral tutor who looks after their welfare and academic progress.

School philosophy

A central philosophy at the school is to prepare students to become “World Ready”. They have an extensive co-curricular and enrichment programme which includes drama, sport, dance, volunteering, and their well-known solar car project. Sport is an important part of life for many students at Ardingly and they have a performance pathway programme, excellent facilities, and a dynamic fixtures list.

They hold open mornings in February and March and they offer a number of scholarships and awards across different disciplines. These are awarded on the basis of examination, interview and, in the case of music, drama and sport; audition and assessment.
