Battle, Bosham, Wheels & Valentines!

Another week of crazy rain! I hope you have all perfected your mud skating and puddle thwacking by now (if they aren’t both a national sport, they should be, and we Sussex folk would surely win).  Whilst trying to dodge the downpours, I have managed to get out and about a little. I headed over to Battle, our Town of the Month, on the one sunny day of the week and had a great time exploring.

And last month, I headed down to Bosham, in West Sussex. Home to Harold, Bosham represents the other part of the Battle /1066 story and features in the second part of our 1066 Trail. Apart from which, it’s a stunning corner of Sussex with some great walks.

With red displays popping up across the county, it’s hard to ignore the fact that Valentine’s Day is approaching. I have some lovely ideas for you, some of which may suit you even if you are completely unromantic.

And as our theme this year is History, Heritage and Folklore, Malinka from Rural Strides headed off recently to catch up with a local wheelwright and learn more about this vanishing Sussex craft.

Finally, if you’re feeling a little out of love with your home, Carole Coleman has some advice for rekindling the love without spending a fortune.

That’s it for now.  Let’s hope for more sunshine.
