East Dean adventures, winter wonders, an accessible walk & an interview

Wow! That was a chilly week, and at that time of writing, Sussex is braced for Storm Goretti. Christmas may be over, but winter is clearly just getting into its stride in Sussex.

Despite the ice, I’ve managed to get out and about exploring. I’ve been over to East Dean near Eastbourne a couple of times, and I am a little in love … with the village, the pub and the great local walks. With walks in mind (and as Crawley is our town of the month), I have also been searching for more accessible walks, and I started at Buchan Park.

I know things are looking bleak outside, but I have 25 fabulous winter suggestions for you – which include a Crawley acid bath murderer experience – I mean, who knew?!

At the end of last year, I also caught up with the team at Tottington Manor and Terra Restaurant. They had a great year in 2025 and have some exciting plans.

And finally, and as part of our Business pages, social media expert, Michelle Betts of By Jove Media, has the first of her The Sussex Scroll features for you with social media trends, accounts to follow and top tips.

That’s it for now. Wrap up warm and stay safe!
