Surrey Sculpture Society currently has a sculpture exhibition at Standen House near East Grinstead in West Sussex.
Let’s rewind a moment. Surrey Sculpture Society was formed over 25 years ago and now has some 250 members, from emerging artists to well-known professionals and from all over the South of England.
They regularly exhibit in Sussex and this year you can see their work at Standen House until the 24th of July and at Leonardslee Gardens from the 29th of July until the 4th of September.
What to expect?
There are over 100 works at Standen House, and with a detailed map in hand, you follow a trail that leads you around the stunning grounds of this National Trust property.
The sculpture exhibition and trail are free but if you want to visit Standen House, the usual fees apply.
A fun sculpture exhibition and trail
The trail has been designed with the in-house team to ensure each piece is positioned and set off at its best. It’s fun to follow the trail and it really works.
The Standen House gardens are gorgeous and the sculptures really bring them alive.
Find bright flowers in amongst bright flowers that just pop out at you, while gentle ladies are serene and calm in the shade and poppy seed heads just look clever … in amongst the poppy seed heads!
The pieces are serious at times, provocative at others, and sometimes simply lovely. There is something for every taste. And you can also buy what you like!
Dogs on short leads are welcome at Standen in the garden and wider estate.
