Follies, rocks, cliff tops and bottoms, & wine.

Summer is here at last and it’s been a glorious week in Sussex.

It never ceases to amaze me, how many curiosities there are here and this week has been no exception. I’ve been on a bit of a folly hunt. I don’t think I have caught them all yet, but what a fabulous array of unusual architectural indulgences we have.

And whilst I was out folly hunting, I drifted up to Eridge and the extraordinary rock formation there. It was raining when I visited and I had the place to myself – it’s quite magical!

Still in the east, this week I carried on with my coastal bike ride – this section was from Saltdean to Peacehaven. If you don’t want to cycle it, I’d recommend a walk along the cliff tops at Peacehaven instead – stunning on a sunny day and you can also cross the hemisphere from east to west!

As English Wine Week comes to a close, I think I can say I have done my bit to support the Sussex wine industry this month, and I’ve got a round up of some of the wines I have tried. Just in case you fancy a bottle of something Sussex.

Finally, it is that time of the month, when our Sussex health expert shares her advice. This month, she is talking about gout. It’s more common than you might think but she has lots of advice.

That’s it for now. I’m off to walk the last section of the Serpent Trail.
