Great Wood, pancakes, romance and bike rides!

Come on, good people, we’ve got this. This week, I heard a woodpecker at work, the first this year, and when the giant puddles subside, there are green shoots aplenty in the woods. One last deep breath is all we need to get us through the last weeks of winter.

As part of my explorations of Battle, I headed to Battle Great Wood last week. I got the only sunny day and my walk was an absolute corker! A little muddy in places, but plenty of winter colour and serenity.

As February is the time for love, this week, I’ve got some more romantic ideas for you. And if you are fed up with wading through the mud, why not grab your bike, and try a cycle ride across the county from Three Bridges to Groombridge along the disused railway lines of Worth and Forest Way?

And let’s not forget that next Tuesday is Pancake Day, yet another sign that spring is on its way and a great excuse for some feasting and fun.

Finally, if you have a dog that pulls on the lead (yes, me too), then Sharon Bolt has some fantastic advice.

That’s it for now. The mornings are getting lighter, so if you fancy a sunrise walk, now might be the time. Have a great weekend and happy Valentine’s Day.
