Heritage trains and water mills, Sussex honey and things to do in July!

I hope you’ve spent “Sussex Wine Week” wisely, keeping cool in the shade of a Sussex cellar or tasting room!

I’ve been out and about exploring again. The area around Lewes has so much to see and do, but I eased off the throttle a little to enjoy a leisurely walk around Barcombe Mills. With the famous Anchor Inn a short walk away, it’s a great spot for a bit of R&R.

I also headed off to Eridge to visit the Spa Valley Railway. Spotting the steam engines from the top of Harrison’s Rock was quite something and I was given such a warm welcome at the two stations I visited.

On my travels, I’ve noticed increasing numbers of apiaries dotted about the countryside, so, I summoned my inner “Pooh” and went in search of all things honey. There is a very sticky jar in front of me as I type. The contents are so moreish.

Finally, hard as it is to believe, July is nearly upon us. The county seems to go wild at this time of year, and there is so much going on next month, it’s hard to keep up.

That’s it for now, keep cool and carry on!
