I don’t know about you, but I am really enjoying, but also clinging onto, the last of the autumn colours. They’ve been amazing this year, but I am conscious that we’re just a skip and a jump away from the leaves being replaced with the first Christmas lights, and indeed, the shops are already glowing with Christmas cheer.
But November is an incredible month in Sussex, and there is so much to enjoy. I always launch the season with a visit to one of the light shows, but there is a great line up of Christmas and winter experiences you can choose from to help you get into the swing of things.
This year, I’ll also be heading to Midhurst for the inaugural Midhurst Jazz, Food and Blues Festival. It is so exciting to see such a high-calibre event taking place in Sussex and a fun way to spend a day.
For those after quieter pursuits, you can’t beat an autumn walk. Cowdray Forest, in between Handcross and Turners Hill, always calls my name at this time of year because the trees are so beautiful, and when I walked there back in the summer, I learnt so much about this little corner of Sussex (which I should have known, as I got married just down the road a long time ago).
When you’re back from your walk, why not tuck into some hearty Sussex fodder, thanks to Sarah Thompson from the Sussex Kitchen?
That’s it for now, I’m off to Littlehampton, our town of the month. Have a good one.
Take care.
