Summer is surely meant for sublime pursuits. And what could be more sublime than an afternoon of Jazz, Gin and Blues, in the dappled shade of the trees in the heart of a West Sussex meadow?
Your MC
Jazz, Gin and Blues is curated by musical legend Simon Bates. If you haven’t come across him before (and no, it’s not the radio 1 DJ of the 1980s) Simon Bates is one of the country’s leading jazz saxophonists, renowned for his awesome technique and versatility. He’s famous on the London session scene or you may have seen him in appearances at Ronnie Scott’s, The Jazz Cafe, 606 Club or with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Elvis Costello, Jamie Cullum, Bette Midler, Shane MacGowan, Sister Sledge, Lulu, Rick Wakeman, Dizzee Rascal, The Sugarhill Gang, Chaka Khan, Emma Bunton, Seal, Eddie Floyd, Billy Ocean, Darius Campbell and Carleen Anderson.
Your musical line-up
The line-up at the Jazz, Gin and Blues Festival is always impressive, heralding artists such as the Alexandra Ridout Band, The Simon Bates Organ Trio, the Julian Burdock Trio and Spice Fusion, and more special guests are expected to be announced. Georgina Jackson will also be performing. Georgina is famous for many things including working with the likes of Nancy Sinatra and Seal, being the resident singer with the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, and performing with the BBC Big Band and Concert Orchestra and at the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.
For the would-be drummers out there, there will also be a drum workshop where you can learn, participate and enjoy the intricacies of percussion rhythms.
Your culinary line-up
Brought to you by the team behind the Loxwood Joust, they know a thing or two about creating memorable experiences. So while you soak up the vibes, you can also enjoy a mix of local heritage food stalls. And let’s not forget, for the gin lovers … independent local gin producers, including Cabin Pressure Spirits, Ditchling and Madame Jennifer Distillery will be on hand to help quench thirsts; along with real ale from the award-winning Langham Brewery, Cider from Silly Moo and mead from Loxwood Meadworks (mead re-imagined for the 21st century).
