There are a few things we love here at Sussex Exclusive. Two of these include great quality sparkling wine and a cultural fusion. So we were more than delighted to hear about a new Sussex sparkling rosé wine released just in time for Valentine’s Day. Huzzah!
The vineyard and the cultural fusion
Busi Jacobsohn is a vineyard near Eridge in East Sussex, owned and run by Swedish couple Douglas and Susanna Busi Jacobsohn. Their heritage blends Swedish, Italian and Greek and their vineyard, which they only planted in 2015, is the source of their three award-winning sparkling wines under the Busi Jacobsohn label. They planted the 5-hectare vineyard with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier and use some of the most forward-looking and sustainable farming principles. Their Swedish heritage is celebrated in the wine’s name and on the stylish labels of their wines – the three crowns symbolising the kingdom of Sweden.
The new rosé
Their 2019 rosé has been released just in time for Valentine’s Day. They only release vintage wines (from a single year), and each wine only contains fruit from their own Sussex vineyard. This rosé is 48 % Chardonnay, 46 % Pinot Noir and 6 % Pinot Meunier.
What to drink it with?
Susanna Busi Jacobsohn says, “It’s a wine for celebrations and aperitifs, or for a range of fine foods: poached salmon, roast chicken or guinea fowl, nduja pizza, Spanish tortilla, or orecchiette with cauliflower, sun-dried tomato and saffron would all make perfect pairings with this gorgeous pink.”
Their wines are available through quality retailers such as Harvey Nichols, Hedonism Wines and Yapp.co.uk, or via the Busi Jacobsohn website.
Think the perfect pink present for Valentine’s Day!
