We all deserve a little bit of luxury and indulgence at the moment, and if you’re looking for West Sussex rural retreats, why not head to the historic town of Midhurst.
An elegant embrace
Just outside Midhurst, you find Park House Hotel and Spa. It’s the epitome of classic English charm, and an opportunity to completely relax, unwind and enjoy life’s rich pleasures. You instantly know when you arrive, that you’ve found somewhere special.
There are 22 rooms in the house, but there are also a number of utterly charming cottages within the grounds – from the two-person Orchard for that little extra level of privacy to Little Oaks which sleeps 12, or Polo Cottage, furnished with elegant farmhouse style. And they’ve just opened a new cottage as well.
A soupcon of indulgence
Once you’re checked in, you have a wonderful choice of overindulgence: there’s the spa, with jacuzzi, sauna steam room, and heated indoor and outdoor pools. There’s a gym with a personal trainer or there are the wonderfully botanical treatments.
If outdoor is more your thing, what about a short round of golf, croquet, lawn tennis, or even a shooting party. Or you could just take to the tracks and trails of the South Downs.
A little time for you
As the hospitality industry begins to re-open, Park House Hotel is offering a number of different experiences, which include a mid-week spa and stay – think Egyptian cotton robes and slippers, full English breakfast, a 60-minute spa treatment washed down with a glass of sparkling Nyetimber. Alternatively, they have a Sunday to Monday stay – with Sunday lunch and wine and check out on Monday after a full English breakfast. Now that’s not a bad start to the week.
Exploring the south
There’s plenty to explore and enjoy in the area. You have glorious Goodwood and Chichester to the south and the historic towns of Petworth and Midhurst within easy reach. West Dean Gardens and the Weald and Downland Living Museum are also close by and of course, there’s always the South Downs – with its almost limitless beauty. You could in fact try one of our recommended walks or some trail running with KARIBU while you’re here.
Nurture and nourish
One of life’s greatest pleasures, is good food and drink, and Park House, won’t disappoint. They have an all-day menu and you can enjoy everything from a full English breakfast, afternoon tea, a four-course dinner, or of course a selection of their 140 odd wines. They’re also big on supporting local producers, and you’ll find their ingredients locally sourced and seasonal. Honestly, does life get better than this you may ask as your head sinks in a deliciously dreamy pillow.
Go on, indulge
They welcome dogs and their midweek spa and stay break start at £190 per person based on two adults sharing.
