What’s not to love on a Sunday afternoon about a chilled glass of local beer and a sharing platter. And if that floats your boat, you should head to The Hop Sun Taproom in Haywards Heath.
Where and who are they?
The Hop Sun is Haywards Heath’s first independent taproom, powered by Heathen Brewers and situated in a 19th century Victorian ex-abattoir. They opened last year having converted the premises into a 10-barrel brewery, taproom, café and community space. It’s a pretty cool space too, with lots of fun little details in the decor. You’ll find it on Triangle Road.
What’s special about them?
Lots! They have a number of different beers including 11 (that I counted) of their own and some alcohol-free options, along with local cider and Chailey gin. Heathen Brewers have a growing reputation for brewing great beer as well as a large supply of personality. You can also order pizza from the local pizzeria who will bake it from scratch and deliver it to your table. Or just opt for a sharing platter as we did which comes with veggie and vegan options.
What else?
It’s dog friendly and just has a really great vibe. Even the toilets are cool! In addition to their sharing platters, they also serve Artisan Toasties and now have a range of Hop Sun merch too!
