Salt marshes & coastal paths, seaside retreats, a historic house & some NGS gardens

There is change in the air in Sussex and you can feel autumn waiting expectantly in the wings. In many parts of Sussex, the fields are awash with the purple flowers of Phacelia while blackberries, apples and plums are ripening nicely. But I’m not giving up on summer just yet.

With that in mind, and as part of this year’s exploration of the Sussex coast, I’ve been east and west. If you want to explore Camber Sands and Rye in the east (as per last week’s newsletter), you can do a lot worse than stay at the gorgeously chic Gallivant.

But if you fancy the wild and romantic feel of a salt marsh coastal path walk around the nooks and crannies of Chichester Harbour, then try my Itchenor to East Head walk in the west.

If history is more your thing, make a note to head to Pevensey when the historic Mint House is holding one of its open day events. Or if gardens are your thing, take advantage of the penultimate month of the NGS and enjoy some late summer colour.

And finally, it’s that time of the month when our health expert shares her knowledge, and this month, she’s got some advice about those pesky varicose veins. Take a look if that resonates.

That’s it for now,. Enjoy the bank holiday weekend. I’m heading back down to the coast for a little more adventure.

Take care.
