Surrealism, serpents, the Meridian Line & Billingshurst

Happy weekend! It’s been a funny old week in Sussex and as I type, the country and county are waking up to a new Government. Weatherwise, I have found myself enjoying July wrapped in a warm blanket.

I did manage to finish the last section of the Serpent Trail, and it was a great walk. That part of the world (the Western Weald) is well worth discovering and I know I will revisit it soon. I have also been to Billingshurst as part of our town of the month series, to see what’s on offer there.

Earlier this year, I got a taste for Surrealism – not something I had ever really dipped my toe into before. However, it would seem that for Surrealism novices like me, or art enthusiasts, Sussex is not a bad place to be and we have a couple of great Surrealist hotspots!

Finally, when in Peacehaven, I found myself crossing from the western to the eastern hemisphere, so I decided to take a closer look at the Meridian Line that runs through Sussex.

That’s it for now, I’m off to dig out my Flapper dress (yes I have one) for a Great Gatsby Extravaganza at Buxted Park this weekend. But whatever you’re doing, have a good one.
