Sussex Advent Calendar, Christmas drinks, Uckfield & an unusual story

It’s been quite a week here at SE HQ and I have covered the length and breadth of the county – from Mayfield to Midhurst and quite a lot of ground in between (including a big chunk of the Serpent Trail).

The weekend kicked off with our Bubbles and Botanicals event at South Lodge which was a spectacular celebration of sparkling wine, spirits, and all things drink. Thank you to all those who came along and made it a success. I was able to catch up with the producers to get some of their favourite drink recommendations for Christmas!

Earlier this week, I also visited Uckfield. It’s been a while since I last was there and it was a gloriously sunny day for exploring … if a little chilly.

I was delighted when Clive Webb (Professor of History at the University of Sussex) contacted me recently with a strange tale of Sussex past. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and that it inspires you to do a Chanctonbury Ring walk in the next few weeks, although maybe not in the dark.

Today sees the start of our Sussex Advent Calendar and I have a Sussex treat for you every day – right up to Christmas Eve. There are some cracking events lined up and I now just have to see if I can fit them all in!

Finally, it’s also health week and our health consultant has some all-important advice about colon health. Not glamorous but important.

That’s it for now. The forecast is cold, cold, cold (colder than it’s been already) for the weekend so wrap up and enjoy our glorious county!
