Sussex wellbeing, walks, beer and Crowborough

This week has been mainly about the landscape. As usual, I have covered the length and breadth of the county, and everywhere I have been, the grass is scorched, the hedgerows are wilting and the leaves are cracked. Sussex has a touch of the Serengeti about it this summer, and it’s been the main topic of conversation.

And unbelievably, we’re into August already, a month that always seems to have its own slightly quieter vibe. And a new month also means a new Town of the Month: Crowborough. I love exploring what I call the “grittier” towns of Sussex because they nearly always reveal the greatest rewards, and Crowborough was no exception.

Hot on the heels of the Gastronomic Promenade in Winchelsea last month, why not head that way for an absolutely gorgeous 10 km walk (with a shorter option if you have less time).

Meanwhile, today is International Beer Day and as we have a flourishing craft beer scene here in Sussex, what better way to celebrate than with a thirst-quenching summer brew….I have a few suggestions for you. And if beer is not your thing, just immerse yourself in some of the things you love doing most with our anti-spa ideas.

As always, you’ll find lots more on the website and in our magazine. I am heading off to Rye tomorrow to be a pirate for the day, so perhaps I’ll see you there?

That’s it for now.
