Securing a five-year option with a view to full ownership, they set about transforming the hotel into something that felt both fundamentally Sussex in identity and confidently contemporary. Five years on, that vision has come full circle. The freehold has now been fully acquired, securing the future of Tottington Manor and placing it firmly in local hands. And it shows.
Today, the hotel has been thoughtfully reworked into a destination that balances comfort with character. Its 12 bedrooms have earned AA four-star recognition, while the addition of TERRA Restaurant has brought a clear and compelling focus to the experience. Here, the emphasis is firmly on Sussex from locally sourced produce to wines and spirits drawn from the surrounding landscape, all served with a sense of place that feels genuine rather than styled.
The reputation has followed. Awards and accolades have arrived steadily, from regional recognition at the BRAVO and Beautiful South Awards to a place among OpenTable’s Top 50 restaurants in the UK, alongside an AA Rosette and a Gold Ribbon from the Good Food Guide.
