If you’re thinking of becoming vegan in the new year or partaking in Veganuary, you may think you have to head to Brighton for a good vegan restaurant. But stop press because there is in fact a great little vegan restaurant in West Sussex (in Crawley) called Sage.

It’s on the High Street and is open most days from 11 am (it’s closed Mondays and on New Year’s Day).

What’s on the menu?
There is a good menu that includes breakfast, mains and a children’s menu so there is plenty of choice. We opted for a pulled BBQ jackfruit and slaw burger and the hummus, falafel and guacamole salad. Other dishes include aubergine peanut butter curry, Iskander kebab, a mixed grill, and different salads.

It was my first time in a vegan restaurant and trying a vegan burger and it was fantastic with really tasty and interesting flavours. Everything was nicely presented and it was prompt service with a smile. As you’d expect there was a good drinks menu with hot and cold drinks (we had a couple of smoothies). There is also a bar but we didn’t have time to check that out!

They don’t have a website (that I can find) but they are on Facebook and Instagram and they do “do Deliveroo”! I am not a vegan but as my first completely vegan meal it set a high benchmark and opened my eyes to a whole new way of eating. Well worth a visit if you’re searching for good vegan restaurants in West Sussex.
