Winnie the Pooh, the Western Weald, a garden and a gateway!

I think we can safely say that it’s been another wet week in Sussex and whilst out and about on Ashdown Forest, I was treated to wind, hail, rain, sun and a lot of mud. I was looking for Winnie the Pooh and his friends and despite the weather, it was great fun. There are lots of different length walks you can do from shortish strolls to intrepid adventures looking for the famous bear.

Talking of adventures, Houghton Bridge near Amberley is a great base if you want to spend some time outdoors exploring the area. For a tiny hamlet, it’s got lots going for it including places to eat and stay, bike and boat hire, history and endless countryside and footpaths to explore.

As Bognor Regis is our town of month, it seemed fitting to include Denmans Gardens just north of the town which I visited last summer. Hopefully, it’s just bursting back into life because it’s the perfect place to enjoy a few moments of calm.

Finally, Malinka from Rural Strides has some great reasons to visit the Western Weald … with a distinctly arboreal feel. If you don’t know that corner of Sussex, it may be time to head west.

That’s it for now. Stay dry and here’s hoping for some blue skies.

Take care.
