Wonderful Winchelsea, hello autumn, NGS gardens and a simple Sussex sausage meat recipe

On my early morning walk this morning, there was a low lying mist, a dew on the grass and a freshness to the air. There is no escaping the fact that summer is getting ready to exit stage right. Wow, that went fast.  But Sussex in autumn is such an evocative time and there is lots to enjoy in the forthcoming weeks. With this in mind, this week, we have some gorgeous NGS gardens as well as 20 autumn things to do in Sussex.

Sarah Thompson of Sussex Kitchen has been cooking up a feast in the latest edition of our magazine and this week, she also has a recipe for Sussex sausage meat as well as some gin and chutney suggestions. As today (29th August) is the anniversary of the Battle of Winchelsea, I thought you might want to head on over there for a potter around. It’s just a beautiful place to spend a little time and it oozes history and charm.

In other news, the autumn edition of our Sussex Exclusive Magazine has landed and it’s a bumper edition packed with some fabulous cultural itineraries, an epic autumn garden trail and lots more. Do check it out.

I always think of Winnie the Pooh at this time of year and his “once upon a last day of a golden summer” in Pooh’s Grand Adventure. So perhaps, head over to Ashdown Forest and catch some of the gently changing colours.

Have a good one.
