| I have a confession. This week I slipped out of Sussex for a couple of days and headed to a remote corner of the Alps. While I was there, I decided to try and find a connection to Sussex. And I found one, albeit a tenuous one. Thomas Becket visited the village I was in, and some believe he was actually buried there … and, of course, Thomas visited Worthing, our Town of the Month and grew his famous figs in Tarring!
So, back in the UK and continuing with the Worthing theme, this week, how about a walking weekend in Worthing with three stunning, historic walks? These walks even give the Alps a run for their money (without the snow)! In other news and to go hand in hand with the Crowhurst yew we featured recently (under which, both William the Conqueror and King Harold may have stood), head to Wilmington and the ancient yew and priory there. I like to imagine William standing under this yew, chatting to his mother. Or why not make a week of it and go exploring 10 of the many wonders of the Weald. Finally, for the foodies amongst you, there is a new restaurant in town (Horsham town to be precise), and it’s well worth a visit. The owner/chef gave me the lowdown. That’s it for now. Have a great weekend and Happy Mother’s Day if that fits. Lucy
