A moon bridge, wine trail, priory & what’s on in May

We are hurtling towards another weekend and I am heading off to Brighton for a couple of days. But while I am there, I have plenty of inspiration for you as you make plans for the months ahead.

First up, I recently visited the Moon Bridge at Sandgate Park. I’ve never visited the park before, and it’s a wonderful pocket of tranquillity. The addition of the Moon Bridge makes it all the more special. I also recently revisited Michelham Priory while exploring Hailsham. I never get tired of visiting, as I always seem to notice something new and there are so many different displays.

One of my great Sussex frustrations is that although we have hundreds of great vineyards, our public transport infrastructure is lacking, so you have to visit either by car or as part of an organised tour. Not ideal. So I have been trying to devise a Sussex wine trail you can do by train. It’s not entirely straightforward, but it is doable and gives you the chance to explore Sussex over three days whilst drinking great wine. And that sounds like a good plan to me.

And, if that’s not enough, as we approach the start of a new month (May already!), I’ve got our usual round-up of things to do for you.

Finally, over on the business pages, Crawley Town Manager Wendy Bell shares her thoughts on how to reinvigorate the town. There are so many people working hard behind the scenes to make our Sussex towns great places to visit, and Wendy is one of them.

That’s it for now. Have a great weekend.
