Christmas in Brighton

As the last leaves tumble from the trees and the first Christmas lights start to twinkle, why not head to Brighton for a day of Christmas fun and frolics?

Brighton Winter Fayre

Brighton Winter Fayre is a new event taking place on St Peter’s Square in central Brighton over three long weekends this December. It starts on the 5th December 2024 and you can expect entertainment spaces, workshops, a central hub with a selection of local food traders, bars, hot drinks and sweet treats, plus free entertainment, a full programme of ticketed events and workshops, a makers market and a grotto.

Ice skating and Christmas at the Royal Pavilion

When you have finished exploring the market, make your way to the Royal Pavilion. Inside, you’ll find a Regency Christmas awaits with lavishly decorated trees and the story of a legendary Grand Christmas Ball held in December 1823. And upstairs you can experience A Very Victorian Christmas with tales of Queen Victoria’s festive stays at the Royal Pavilion (from 16th November to 5th January 2025).

Next, grab yourself a pair of ice skates and take to the ice in front of the exotic laced domes at the front of the Pavilion. This is the only Christmas ice rink powered by renewable energy in the UK and is a great way to start Christmas or create a new annual tradition. For those who aren’t skaters or just need a quick rest, there is a café inside where you can indulge in teas, coffees, hot chocolates, beer, mulled wine, cakes and pastries.

Afternoon tea at the Metropole

If you’re starting to flag, make your way across the road to the beautiful architecture of the Double Tree by Hilton Brighton Metropole for afternoon tea as you watch the sun set across the sea from the Metropole Bar. It’s wonderfully atmospheric and you might want to opt for a few more bubbles with your pastries, cakes and sarnies!
