Christ’s Hospital Offers Help With School Fees

There are a number of ways CH can help with school fees.

Christ's Hospital- Independent School

Bursaries and Scholarships

Bursaries: A bursary is means-assessed financial assistance given to help support a family who would not otherwise be able to afford some or all of the school fees. Bursaries at Christ’s Hospital are available to applicants for boarding places only.

Scholarships: A scholarship rewards outstanding achievements and talent in, for example, academic work, music, sport, art or drama. Scholarships may be honorary or may provide a discount of up to 20% of the assessed fee level.

Scholarships are awarded to students who are entering the school at Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12 and to existing students who are moving into Year 9 and Year 12. Bursaries make places at Christ’s Hospital affordable; scholarships are an additional bonus for a limited number of outstanding students.

Students may be awarded both a bursary and a scholarship at the same time.

Christ’s Hospital welcomes fee paying day students who are within a commutable distance of the school. Should a day applicant be successful in receiving a scholarship, Christ’s Hospital can occasionally, depending on individual circumstances, offer a small amount of additional fee assistance to support the scholar in taking up their place at the school.

A unique boarding school

Christ’s Hospital is a co-educational boarding and day school of 900 students aged 11-18. The school is situated in 1200 acres of stunning countryside, just three miles south of the thriving market town of Horsham and is very fortunate in having its own mainline railway station. The school prides itself on its academic excellence, rich history, charitable ethos, outstanding facilities and diverse community.

The school delivers a vibrant curriculum that has both challenge and opportunity at its heart. The CH curriculum is made up of three interwoven parts: a stimulating academic curriculum which covers everything inside the classroom, an extensive broader curriculum which encapsulates everything outside the classroom and a robust pastoral curriculum which ensures that all students feel safe, well cared for and fully supported throughout their educational journey.

Students’ experiences outside the classroom are challenging, varied, and rewarding. They are about discovering and developing new and lifelong interests and talents. An enormous range of music, art, drama, sport, and broader curriculum activity is offered. 98% of leavers move on to university, taking with them the confidence and resilience they will need to achieve success at university and beyond.

For over 470 years, Christ’s Hospital has produced scholars, leaders and global citizens.

Impressive facilities and opportunities

Christ’s Hospital is extremely well resourced. While every fibre of school is steeped in history, teaching takes place in 90 well-equipped classrooms organised by department. Each classroom is equipped with specialist resources with dedicated facilities to enhance the students’ learning experience. The state-of-the-art library offers access to over 20,000 books, newspapers and journals. It features a fully integrated online catalogue system which provides additional resources for students. The school enjoys excellent IT facilities and has recently created a new senior leadership role: Assistant Head Digital and Innovation.

Students enjoy the purpose-built theatre, world-class sports facilities, a music school and art school. The school has an ongoing programme of renovation, rebuilding and technological development, which ensures that the facilities remain contemporary. This continued commitment to maintaining the infrastructure reflects the school’s dedication to providing an inspiring learning environment.
