We know a lot of you love your hounds, so we thought we’d put together 20 dog friendly places to eat in Sussex.

The Greets Inn (Warnham)
This country pub is the perfect place to bring your pooch. It’s a pub with a soul, and as both families and dogs are welcome it’s the perfect pup friendly pit stop.
The Cat Inn (West Hoathly)
Despite its name, this is a dog friendly 16th century pub and hotel near East Grinstead. While only the pub part is dog friendly, it’s a great place to rest and relax after a walk on Ashdown Forest.
The Shepherd & Dog (Fulking)
This pub, built in the early 19th century, is filled with historic intrigue and just happens to also be dog friendly. For those with an interest in the Sussex smuggling trade this was a smuggling store and rumour has it the location of the store is unknown but still hidden somewhere in its walls.

The Better Half Pub (Hove)
On the site of one of the oldest pubs in the city, head here after a walk on the beach. In addition, when you bring your pooches, there is a chance that they may meet the pub’s very own golden retriever Charlie!
Brighton Cocktail Company (Brighton)
This restaurant/bar is a unique and beautifully colourful place to bring your dog. It has its own secluded courtyard to dine and drink with your companion. It also sells numerous locally sourced spirits and wines.
The Chequers Inn (Rowhook)
A gorgeous country pub and restaurant well known for its incredible food and invitingly cosy atmosphere. With a large garden and room for dogs of all shapes and sizes.

The Laughing Dog (Worthing and Brighton)
We couldn’t just mention one when we are lucky enough to have two of these cafés in Sussex, with room for children, buggies, wheelchairs and dogs. Even offering dog treats and free snacks for your furry friend, it’s a friendly and inviting environment.
Mewsbrook Park Café (Littlehampton/Rushington)
Next to the lake and park in Littlehampton. Perfect for family outings and walks. In addition, it’s also wheelchair friendly and very spacious. They host afternoon tea and serve and abundance of drinks and snacks.
Tottington Manor (Henfield)
This gorgeous hotel and restaurant is right at the foot of the South Downs and is dog friendly with areas specifically designated for hounds by the artwork.

The Ginger Pig (Hove)
This hotel and restaurant serves traditional food from Sussex suppliers. They also have dog friendly accommodation options so why not take a small sabbatical with your pooch. It’s homely and cosy and listed as one of the top 10 pubs in the UK by GQ.
Noah’s Ark Inn (Petworth)
This beautiful 16th century pub not far from Petworth, has an ever-changing menu of traditional, British food. Both children and dogs are welcome. With high beamed ceilings and cosy fires, you could potter in on a Sunday evening and indulge with your dog with one of their many ales or wines.
The WildFlour Café (Poynings)
Set in a dip in the Downs at Saddlescombe Farm, this café is a hidden gem. It’s on the South Downs Way, with Devil’s Dyke just around the corner, and is the perfect place to take a break. It has a great range of healthy and local food and cakes and you feel a million miles away from the world.

The Sportsman (Goddard’s Green)
This pub is at the foot of the South Down’s and only 15 minutes away from Brighton. It also has a spacious beer garden and two cosy log fires. They have regular live music to keep you and the kids entertained.
Tibbs Farm (Rye)
With views overlooking hop gardens, this is another farm based pit stop, with food fresh from the farm and fields of fresh fruit to pick and take home in the summer as well. Dogs are allowed on a leash as there’s also an abundance of farm animals that you can say a quick hello to.
The Gallivant (Camber Sands)
This beach chic retreat is just feet away from dog friendly beaches. They welcome smallish dogs which are allowed in the bar area and in four of their bedrooms.

The Bell Inn (Ticehurst)
A quintessentially English pub with an eccentric soul and a long history. They serve food and also have dog friendly rooms where you can stay after a day spent exploring the area.
Slindon Forge Village Shop & Café (Arundel)
This café, doubling as a fresh food shop, is dog friendly and has outside seating for when the weather permits it. Perfect after a walk in the surrounding countryside as it offers a wonderful selection of cooked food, including breakfast and sweet treats and dog treats.
Perch on The Beach (Lancing)
This a relaxed and easy-going seaside café set on Lancing Beach. Bring your dogs and relax by the sea with some of their gorgeous food, serving breakfast lunch and dinner. It also caters for kids with their own menu just for your little ones.

Heist Market (St Leonards on Sea)
Eclectic and Bohemian, Heist is a collective of independent street food stalls, serving local, seasonal and naturally made produce. It’s in the heart of the town and is great for a light bite or coffee.
Tap House Shoreham (Shoreham)
This restaurant and tap room obviously majors on their selection of craft beers, ales and spirits which just happen to be accompanied by mouthwatering food. Whether you want to stop for lunch or a drink, it’s an easy going, fun place to visit and enjoy with your dog.
