So, I have a confession. I have crept off for a holiday, although by the time you read this, I’ll be back and exploring Sussex once more.
Before I left, I reccéd a fabulous Fittleworth walk. It is peppered with history (including ancient bridges, Norman churches and medieval frescoes) and takes you through an ever-changing and beautiful landscape.
The walk then sent me down a Sussex yew tree rabbit hole. There is something very magical about a tree that is thousands of years old, and in Sussex, we have quite a few.
Rye is always an evocative place to visit, but with a history that includes pirates and smugglers, their new (newish) Rye Pirate Day is a chance to see the town in a whole new light. It’s lots of fun and free to attend.
