The new PLAYXPERIENCE at Butlin’s in Bognor Regis is brilliant fun. And a great addition to Sussex entertainment.
I have a confession. I’d never been to a Butlin’s until I was invited to come and try their new PLAYXPERIENCE just before it opened. I really didn’t know what to expect but it is state of the art, interactive, unique and wholesome. In short, perfect for families looking for something cool to do. So what exactly is it?
Contained in a new building in the centre of the park covering a whopping 50,000sqft across two floors, PLAYXPERIENCE is home to 9 brand-new experiences including:
- The first fully immersive and interactive built-in Neo Games arenas in the UK
- An immersive Laser Tag
- 27 Butlin’s inspired TechPutt golf holes across three courses with one wheelchair-accessible course with adapted putters
- VR-cade with 11 of the very latest VR experiences with a selection of machines you can’t get anywhere else
- Four different Escape Rooms that are new to market for younger/family audiences
- Glow Pong – ping pong that glows!
- Shuffleboard – very moreish
- Batting Cage
- Digi Darts
Each gaming zone boasts its own unique theme and immersive experience, with games suitable for children from the age of 3 right through to adults. Guests can include PLAYXPERIENCE in their stay by purchasing tokens in advance or while on the resort. Of course, there is also a large café and bar with big TV screens. It’s a UK holiday resort first and cost £15m! TV personalities, Jeff and Freddy Brazier, visited to mark its opening with Jeff saying, “It’s fantastic to be involved in the launch of Butlin’s PLAYXPERIENCE. As a family we’re generally quite competitive and enjoy getting hands on with activities and games in our spare time, so this was right up our street!”

I was quietly amazed at how compelling all the games are, and once you start, you really can’t stop. There is nothing like this elsewhere in Sussex.
