Walks, Normans, architecture, art trails & chocolate crumble!

Wow! What a week of wonderful weather and what a way to say goodbye to winter. Sussex is quite literally bursting back into life at a pace and every day seems a little greener.

That means it’s a great time to get out and about, and as Hailsham is our Town of the Month, I have seven Hailsham walks for you – from the long to the short and accessible.

If you are more of a creative type, why not pencil an art trail or two into your calendar over the summer. We have a lot of local talent and it’s a great way to support local while being inspired.

If the kitchen is more your domain, and if you haven’t eaten too much chocolate over Easter, then check out this easy to make but unconventional crumble thanks to Stoves Dining. It’s lipsmackingly good.

Of course, as you know, I am on a year long Norman deep dive, and just before I set off for Normandy (yup, I’m going all the way), I’ve been reflecting on the Norman Sussex legacy. There is so much Norman influence still around.

Finally, I recently caught up with the ever-thought provoking and erudite Judith Dandy from Dandelion Farewells to talk about the trend for direct cremation and to explore the reasons behind it and the implications for us as individuals and as a community. These are not always easy conversations to have or to write about, but they are so important.

That’s it for now. Have a great weekend.

Lucy
