Discover, explore and savour the best of Sussex

Wine, walks, Pitts-Stops & Mint Houses

Hmmm, it’s been a bit wet this week but nothing the hearty folk of Sussex can’t handle and I don’t know about you, but it made my thoughts turn to food and drink!

As I hadn’t visited Bolney Wine Estate for ages, and as they have a new wine shop and café, I headed over there last week for the last of the sunshine and some afternoon bubbles. It’s a great new space! Then, with my stomach still in mind, I also headed over to Eastbourne (in the pouring rain) to try Chi – a pan-Asian street food restaurant, and to meet the owner. It was superb!

Some of you may have spotted last week’s deliberate mistake …the NGS Autumn Gardens article had the wrong link. My fault, I was doing too many things at once. So big apologies for that and do check it out here: Stunning Autumn Gardens.

As it’s feeling autumnal, I also thought I’d share one of my favourite walks of last autumn at Slindon. The golden beech trees are something else!

And earlier this summer I went exploring Pevensey. There’s so much history there and one of their more important buildings is the Mint House – which desperately needs saving. I had a good nose round!

That’s it for now. Don’t forget, tickets for the Bubbles and Botanicals sparkling wine and Sussex spirit event are now on sale. And if you’re following my epic South Downs adventure, you’ll find day 2 here
