As you drive south down the A29 (just outside Slinfold in West Sussex), you might notice a sign to your left to The Barn Project on your left at Whitebreads Farm. It is, as you might suspect, a large barn but inside you’ll find a coffee shop, a deli counter that serves lunch, wood-fired pizzas, a little bookshop and even a small selection of homewares!
It’s become a popular haunt for the residents of Slinfold because it’s a short but hearty walk across the fields so perfect for dog walkers (yes, they are super dog friendly) and it’s a great spot for a Pitts-Stop.
What’s the vibe?
Again, it’ll come as no surprise that for a barn on the edge of a field, it’s got a rustic vibe with lots of wood, and recycled tables, but it’s also pretty cool (if it’s not too uncool to say cool).
Fancy a coffee?
If all you have time for is a coffee and a quick bite with the dog, this is perfect. They’ve got a full range of specialty coffees and teas, and when I’ve popped in mid-morning, there has always been a really relaxed atmosphere … like a gathering of friends.
Light bites
They serve food from 10 am and this includes croissants and an impressive range of all-day breakfasts. A little later, they serve brunch. I had the avocado on sourdough with chili jam, feta, and picked pink onions and I have to say, it was superb and I would definitely revisit just for that.
Fancy a Pizza?
The pizza oven is run by The Stone Baked Pizza Co. They have some really interesting toppings and are delicious. They also deliver to the surrounding villages if you don’t fancy the walk!
The Barn Project is open Wednesday to Saturday 10 am to 8 pm and the post code is RH13 0RE.
