What’s on in Sussex in November

Hard as it is to believe, we are hurtling headfirst towards November. Next month, there is lots of Christmas stuff going on, as you might expect, but we have also tried to include some non-Christmassy things in our What’s on in Sussex in November 2025 round-up (we will be adding to this post all the time, so do check in again):

Midhurst Jazz, Blues and Food Festival 

From 14 to 16 November, Midhurst will host its first-ever Jazz Festival, a celebration of music, culture, and community that blends local spirit with international flair. With a Super Early Bird discount for locals, world-class performances ranging from jam sessions to big-band shows, jazz-inspired food and drink, and a new festival trail linking venues across the town, the event promises more than just gigs — it’s an immersive itinerary designed to put Midhurst on the cultural map.

The Great British Truffle Festival is a unique celebration that brings together truffle enthusiasts from all walks of life, including novices, experts, dog lovers, foodies and nature enthusiasts. The festival is dedicated to the exploration and appreciation of Britain’s unique truffle ecosystem, offering a wide range of activities from engaging talks, workshops and cooking demos as well as have-a-go truffle hound training with your dog and the Truffle Hound Competition! Held on 22 November at Plumpton Racecourse.

Sussex Distiller’s Festival

A brand-new celebration of local craft drinks, uniting distillers, brewers, and winemakers from across the county. With a focus on small-batch production, local botanicals and community spirit, Sussex Distiller’s Festival on 29 November (at Hove Town Hall) will shine a light on the makers and independent businesses shaping the future of the Sussex drinks scene.
A dram of passionate distillers, brewers and winemakers, uniting to showcase the very best the county has to offer. From small-batch gins and vodkas to award winning rums, beers, wines and hand-crafted cocktails, you’ll find it all under one roof. Bringing makers and drinkers together to share a love for the craft.

Winter Comets and Curry at The Observatory Science Centre

On 15 November, at Herstmonceux, an informal but informative evening with a talk presented by a guest speaker followed by meteor spotting and viewing through the grand, historic telescopes (some of the largest telescope in the country). Lights and illuminations

Leonardslee Lights start on 28 November with the theme A Midwinter Light’s Dream. Just over the border in Kent, the Bedgebury Pinetum Light Trail starts on 21 November.

Webbes Cookery School – Game Gourmet Thursday

On 20 November at Webbes’ Wild Mushroom Restaurant in Westfield. Autumn and winter brings with it the wild game season which is heaven for any serious food lover. Enjoy a 7-course dinner which incorporates the versatility of local East Sussex wild game. The evening begins with an arrival drink and includes four glasses of matched wines, a non-alcoholic option is available at a reduced cost. Or on 24 November, under the expert guidance of owner/chef, Paul Webbe, learn how to butcher, prepare and cook a variety of species, including mallard, pigeon, pheasant and venison. 50 Years of Music, Monarchs & The Grand Hotel

From 21 to 24 November at The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne, this festival is a celebration of the hotel’s 150th anniversary. Set against a backcloth from Queen Victoria to King Charles III, top-class performers will evoke stars such as Enrico Caruso, Dame Nellie Melba, John McCormack, Anna Pavlova, Paul Robeson, George Robey, Charlie Chaplin and many others, not forgetting great composers such as Sir Edward Elgar. The programme, narrated by favourite TV personalities Kevin Whately and Madelaine Newton, has been created by Artistic Directors Stephannie Williams and Christopher Morley, who have promoted successful musical events at the Grand Hotel and Ashdown Park in recent years.
