Discover, explore and savour the best of Sussex

Forest bathing, Winnie the Pooh, Sussex windmills & beer!

Welcome to this week’s newsletter and your Sussex selection box!

Well, I don’t know about you, but I was disappointed with how this week’s heatwave turned out. That said, I was able to try some forest bathing before Wednesday’s much-needed rain set in. I have to say, I loved my forest bathing experience and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone, particularly if you feel frazzled, stressed or like life is a hamster wheel that you can’t get off!

Apart from exploring Midhurst, I also found myself in the middle of Sussex this week as I explored Chailey Common, re-visited Ashdown Forest home of Winne the Pooh, and refueled at Haywards Heath’s first taproom! I am ashamed to admit that having driven past it thousands of times, I didn’t realise Chailey had its own Sussex windmill that is open to visit. I do love a windmill.

Tomorrow, as you’re enjoying a leisurely breakfast, I am going to be running / walking from Christ’s Hospital to Hove (50km). I am fully expecting to fail as my training has not gone to plan, but, if you are out and about on the Downs Link, the Downs or the South Downs Way, please give the “Run to the Sea” runners a cheer. I’ll be the broken one!

That’s it for now, have a great weekend, and if I survive, I’ll see you next week.
