Discover, explore and savour the best of Sussex

Lewes, Leonardslee, Lemon Bomb & a Sussex Priory

Welcome to the weekend and your weekly serving of Sussex

Well from now on in, I’m feeling unashamedly festive…whatever the weather may throw at us!

With that in mind, Leonardslee Illuminated is fast becoming one of the best ways to kick off the festivities, and this year their illuminations combine cosmic spirituality with a dash of African adventure! Well worth a visit.

Earlier this week, I retraced the steps of my youth with a visit to Michelham Priory. It’s a beautiful and evocative place and they also have an interesting calendar of Christmas events. I also headed to Lewes, and if you’re looking for things to do during the holidays, it’s a good place to start. They have everything there from flea markets, great beer, and history to Polish pottery.

And because the weather has turned decidedly chilly, I also thought I’d share a recipe for an old family favourite, namely Sussex Pond Pudding, which we always knew as Lemon Bomb. It is glorious overindulgence in a bowl! Enjoy.

Finally, the festive period isn’t always easy for everyone, so this month our Sussex health expert has some advice for managing and avoiding depression. Well worth a read if this resonates with you and yours.

That’s it for now. Don’t forget to check out our magazine for more Sussex soundbites. It’s completely free and packed with recipes, walks, experiences, and more: Sussex Exclusive Magazine

Have a great weekend.
