Discover, explore and savour the best of Sussex

Weird, wonderful, beautiful and Sussex!

Welcome to this week’s newsletter as we battle our way towards spring here in Sussex.

So, did you manage to survive Storm Eunice (and the various other storms)? We’re a bit battered and bruised here at SE HQ and now have a large, tree-shaped dent in the roof of the van!

But it takes more than a falling tree to keep us down and with the power off, and naught else to do, my mind turned to cheese, wine, and weird things! The result is, this week, I bring you three cheese and wine pairings from three Mayfield producers and 10 of the weirdest (and most wonderful) things that I’ve encountered whilst exploring Sussex during the course of the last year.

Geoff Stonebanks from the NGS has also been weathering the storm this week to find seven lovely local gardens from across Sussex, all in support of a great cause. And I’ve got the last in our series of famous Sussex folk.

I often think that someone should hold a networking group or meet up in the wee hours of the night. My reasoning is that so many of us seem to suffer from insomnia and are lying awake at 3 am, twiddling our thumbs, that it might be a good idea to connect us all and make good use of the time. In the absence of this, however, this month our health expert has some advice on insomnia and getting a good night’s sleep!

Well, that’s it for now, I’m off to prop up the fence and cut my way out of the drive. Stay safe and have a good weekend.
